What does it look like at a real agency?

Before discovery, most owners can tell me what’s frustrating. Few can tell me where the time goes. In the session, I look at five things: who’s on staff, how the data flows, who touches the information, what you’re doing to bring business in, and how that’s structured. After 2 to 3 hours, I can tell you where and if I can help.

The thing that surprises owners most is manual data entry. “It’s shocking how many agencies are still typing things in by hand.” A census retyped into a carrier portal. A quote rekeyed into a proposal. A form that gets printed, filled in, and typed back into the agency management system.

I draw the map live on a whiteboard I built for these calls. People, tools, and data are cards, and the handoffs are lines between them. You can watch it fill in from your own screen. Within one week you get a one page written map, the first one or two connections worth making, and a straight answer on whether I can help.

What won’t DoBetter do?

DoBetter won’t replace your account managers or producers. The work is built to take the retyping off their plates so they spend the day with clients.

DoBetter won’t give legal, tax, compliance, or insurance advice. Discovery is analysis and recommendations.

And DoBetter won’t build something just because it can be built. If the map shows your agency doesn’t need me, I’ll say so, and the $1,500 comes back.

Who is this a fit for?

AI strategy and support fits a small benefits agency where the owner knows the team is busy but can’t point to where the hours go. It fits agencies already paying for ChatGPT or Claude seats that mostly get used as “a glorified Google search.” It fits owners who want a person checking anything that goes to a client.

It’s a poor fit for an agency that wants a vendor to show up, install something, and leave. The best builds come from the people who do the work sitting in on discovery.

The timing matters, too. The 2026 Big “I” Agents Council for Technology survey found 31% of independent agencies aren’t using AI at all, and 55% have no written AI use policy. Most agencies are starting from the same place.
